CHARLOTTE’S WEB // THEATREWORKS USA NATIONAL TOUR

DIRECTOR + DESIGNER + ADAPTATION

After 25 years of touring CHARLOTTE'S WEB, THEATREWORKS USA decided it was time for a fresh approach, and I was stoked to lead the charge! Teaming up with the incredible indie band, Sheriff and the Deputy, known for their authentic Bluegrass sound (you can catch them jamming Downtown in an NYC apothecary every week), we cooked up an original score that breathed new life into the production. We drew inspiration from the rich tapestry of Americana, diving deep into the US Songbook, and handpicked classic folk songs to give Charlotte and Wilbur's story that nostalgic vibe while letting those beautiful, tender moments shine through.

I'm all about that musical theatre magic and blending styles, so creating a hipster-chic, folksy edition of Charlotte's Web was totally my jam…but we didn't stop there. To take the experience to the next level, I curated a collection of props from an old warehouse, adding that whimsical and handcrafted touch. We gathered kinetic ropes, pulleys, trap doors, and mesh netting drop-downs, transforming the stage into a mechanical playland, while the cast executed precise choreographic sequences, unraveling and unveiling Charlotte's messages.  Costume Designer TRISTAN RAINES added brilliantly chic clothes, and the production is still going strong in 2023.

"A UNIFORMLY EXCELLENT PRODUCTION!"
